Many of you have most likely seen Kelly around D&D over the past few months- and we figured it was about time we formally introduced her! She specializes in balayage and tap in extensions, she's a sweetheart, lovely to chat with, and a great addition to the family!
What made you get into hair dressing?
Since a little girl, always knew. I had always heard about Blanche Macdonald and I knew right away that it was my school, that was where I wanted to go.
What is balayage?
Balayage is a more “live in color”, it’s so seamless. You can transform someones look. You’re literally creating, you’re painting. I think that’s why it’s my favorite.
How long have you been a hair dresser?
I graduated a year ago from Blanche Macdonald.
How did you find out about Darling and Dapper?
I’ve been working here almost 5 months, I used to commute to Yaletown everyday from Mission. A coworker at my previous salon had mentioned D&D when she found out i was leaving. As soon as I walked in I fell in love, I knew I wanted to work here.
What should the D&D readers know about you?
I’m a girly nerd- game of thrones fan- my favorite part is whenever Khaleesi is showing mad girl power. I’m addicted to shopping, I love animals- I have a German Shepard of my own. I’m a country girl, I’m easy going I guess.
Any hidden talents?
I’m told I have a really good voice. (*Note- all the girls in the shop agreed when Kelly answered this one)
What would you be doing if you weren’t a hair dresser?
Surprisingly I would’ve studied psychology- I would’ve trained to be a psychiatric nurse
What’s your craziest hair story, on either you or a client?
Well I chopped off my hair and dyed it bright green. On a client, I dyed their hair in a hot pink balayage.
Is there anything that you haven't done yet, but would like to?
I would like to try doing a rainbow balayage on someone.
